About THE INSTRUCTOR
Hi I’m Max! I’m Russian, born and raised in Ukraine during the breakdown of the USSR. Like most boys during that time, I was enrolled in martial arts at a young age. Starting with Shotokan Karate at age six, I continued with that for five years, participating in and winning competitions. Shotokan Karate is a straight-forward martial art excellent for establishing basic techniques, but a fight with a boxer made me question whether or not one martial arts discipline was enough. So I switched to Kick Boxing, which seemed more practical, and also added Judo classes for the wrestling, grabbing, and throwing techniques.
By the time I was in university, I was able to take military courses in lieu of the draft. This is where I met the trainer I’d work with for another ten years, the last five of which I also spent as an instructor. This trainer had been teaching Russian military special forces for over twenty years, using techniques that were brutal but highly effective.

something something ” – Max
The method included work with weapons and miscellaneous objects, as well as psychological training and the basics of first aid. It was not a sports discipline, and it turned out to be exactly what I had been searching for. When I came to the United States in 2014, I began looking for a self-defense class to continue the training I’d been practicing in Ukraine. After attending several different classes which proved unsatisfactory, however, I considered creating my own class. Working together with friends, I soon realized this was the way to move forward.
About COMA
What’s unique about the COMA (Combat Martial Arts) is that it allows you to overcome a stronger opponent, working at only 25-30% of your power. It also includes a lot of shocking moves that don’t require extended repetition. It’s a perfect solution for anyone who feels they need an advantage when confronted with a larger attacker.
